For Warner Bros. latest horror film, Lights Out, Trigger created a web feature that immerses the user in the experience of the film. With the “Keep the #LightsOut” Photo Scare, users snap a photo of their room and then flip the lights “on” and “off” to see if there is a sinister entity lurking in the shadows of their own home. By the end of the experience, users have had a chilling encounter with the paranormal and are presented with a shareable video or downloadable GIF of their experience.
Lights Out made its theatrical debut in July 2016 and ensured that viewers would never confidently switch a light off ever again.
