Wildlife Watch App Launches

In conjunction with Wildlife Alliance, TRAFFIC, and Jeff Corwin Connect, Trigger recently released the Wildlife Watch app for iPhone to increase awareness and protect the wildlife of Southeast Asia. The app provides information about heavily trafficked species and a map that pinpoints trade hotspots in Cambodia. There is even an Incident Report feature that lets you report the illegal handling of animals directly to Wildlife Alliance. Users can report which animals they saw, how and where they were being traded, and submit wildlife photos. The app also teaches users how to identify products and foods made from threatened animal or plant species, and provides exclusive video clips featuring Jeff Corwin.
The app is Trigger’s 2011 donation on behalf of the Trigger Change charity program. The intent is to license the app’s engine at no-cost to qualified NGOs.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Online Movie Game Launches

Trigger recently launched the online movie game for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. In this real-time 3D action/driving game, you play as the Ghost Rider racing down a mountain highway and attack bad guys. We wanted to push the boundaries of Flash gaming, so the game utilizes the Away3D engine (full 3D models and environments) and new features of Flash 11 to power the experience on a wide range of computers.
The game features 3 vehicles that each get their own level: the hellcycle, a hellified Zil Truck, and a hellified Bagger Crane (the largest land vehicle in the world). The Ghost Rider can attack other enemies using his chain attack while riding by them, crash into them with the truck, and go destruction-crazy with the crane. The game has 2 vastly different environments to play in and there are 8 achievement badges to collect, which are shareable on Facebook.
The Lorax Site Launches With 4 Mini-Games

Trigger created the official website for Universal Pictures’ The Lorax, which places visitors right into the Truffula Forest, where they can learn about the story, meet the characters from the film, get tips on how to “go green,” and watch several video clips. The site also includes 4 Lorax-themed mini-games. In the Don’t Whack the Lorax mini-game, the goal is to whack Mr. O’Hare over the head with a mallet, and avoid hitting the Lorax. In Dodgeberry Blast, players’ goal is to hit the Bar-ba-loots with berries, while avoid getting hit. In Ted’s Scooter Dash, the goal is to collect gears to travel at fast distances, while dodging cars and other dangers along the way. And in the Humming-Fish & Swomee Swan Survival game, players have to fly or swim and collect musical notes to move through the level while dodging pollution in the air/water. Players who achieve a score over 1000 in any of the games unlock a coloring sheet to download and print out. Users can also download wallpapers, buddy icons, and screensavers. Stay tuned for updates to the site as well, such as a Cast & Crew section.
The Lorax is based on Dr. Seuss’ book of the same name and will be released on March 2nd.
Theatrical Site for Safe House Launches

Trigger recently launched the theatrical site for Universal Pictures’ Safe House. The site has gotten quite the update since the teaser site launched awhile back. On top of the usual sections you’d find in a full theatrical site, the Safe House site has been updated to add an immersive pre-rendered 3D experience called “HUNT DOWN TOBIN FROST.” This feature provides a sneak peek at 3 locations from the film (completely modeled in 3D by Trigger) as users try to chase down Denzel Washington’s character. This experience includes 12 interactive hotspots which are trackable in a collection tray. Find all 12 hotspots and you’ll unlock 3 movie wallpapers and an exciting clip from the film! The site also includes a plethora of content, such as exclusive video and stills, and custom VO.
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Video+ Site Launches

Last week Trigger launched the Video+ site for Sony Pictures’ upcoming film, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. This unique “interactive video” feature lets users go behind the scenes on one of the film’s biggest stunts, where one of the directors and main actors were both hung by a crane off of a cliff to get the shot. The feature includes play, pause, fast-forward and rewind scrubber controls, multiple camera angles, and over a dozen text & video hotspots that provide additional behind the scenes footage & facts on the film/stunt. Trigger recreated the entire scene using 3D models and animations, and the site includes a PIP display of the side-by-side shots from the actual film. Users can also activate Full 360° Mode to gain full 360° camera control of the stunt over the cliff.
Vuforia by Qualcomm and Sesame Workshop Prototype Playset

Trigger Apps collaborated with Qualcomm and Sesame Street Workshop to create the Sesame Street Playset Prototype. This augmented reality prototype built for Android shows off the educational value of Qualcomm’s new Vuforia technology, which allows for AR tracking of multiple 3D, physical objects. Through AR, these objects animate and are able to interact with one another.
The app prototype features two types of play: Free Play allows children to add objects to the “Living Room Rug” (AR mat marker) and see how the objects interact. In guided play, the objects are placed on a mat all together, triggering a game-like experience. In this “Bathroom Scene”, the user is prompted to play a game of “hide-and-seek” to find the Rubber Duckie. Animations are triggered based on the position/proximity of the Android device to the object. We used an HTC Jetstream for this prototype.
Some fun facts, our close partnership with Qualcomm made this prototype the first time the technology was ever used. The AR tracks up to 5 3D objects at once! Additionally, video can play within the AR experience.

The Amazing Spider-Man Site Launches

Trigger and Spider-Man go a loooooong way back. Well, it’s no surprise that Trigger designed and developed the theatrical site for Sony Pictures’ upcoming film, The Amazing Spider-Man. The site has Story, Characters, Cast, Filmmakers, Trailer, and Gallery sections. As a way of encouraging users to browse the full site, the background images found on the homepage and Character pages can all be downloaded as wallpapers. The site also features a lot of subtle 3D animations and effects which further enhance the look of the site.
Trigger created the custom background music for the site and the site auto-scales on all monitor sizes, including standard and widescreen resolutions. Stay tuned for future updates to the site, along with more releases coming soon as part of the film’s digital campaign. The film is due out July 3rd.
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Site Launches

Trigger recently launched the theatrical site for Sony Pictures’ upcoming film, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The site includes sections for Story, Cast & Filmmakers, Gallery, Videos, and Downloads.
The site includes a nav & other content fueled with parallax effects and glorious fire interstitials. Some unique features of the site are a mouse cursor “burn” effect (burn copy and photos by hovering over it! Note: you can’t burn Johnny Blaze) and animated gifs for download in the Downloads sections. Yes, gifs! Is this the future of film digital marketing? We hope so. The site also includes some fun easter eggs – different audio clips play when you click on the various skulls that appear throughout the site.
Due out in under a month (February 17th), the superhero film will be released in 3D and is a sequel to the 2007 film Ghost Rider, with Nicolas Cage returning in the starring role. Be sure to stay tuned for news on other Ghost Rider-related projects that Trigger has been working on.
In The Land of Blood and Honey Flash and Mobile Sites Launch

Trigger designed and developed the official theatrical sites (both web and mobile) for FilmDistrict’s In The Land of Blood and Honey. The film, which is the directorial debut of Angelina Jolie, is a love story set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War. The film was shot in both Serbo-Croatian and English languages and features a Bosnian cast including Zana Marjanovic, Goran Kostic, and Rade Šerbedžija.
The site includes sections for Story, Cast, Filmmakers, Gallery, Video, History, and Personal Stories sections. Two unique sections on this film’s website are the History and Personal Stories sections. The History section provides additional information on the Bosnian War, and the Personal Stories section shares the personal accounts of the local cast and how the Bosnian War affected them and their families (all told in their own words). The site also has a convenient & handy ticketing widget and a Critical Acclaim section with press quotes.
Trigger created 2 versions of the mobile site, one for smartphones and another for tablets. The smartphone version of the site features a ticketing widget, Trailer, Story, and Gallery sections. The robust tablet version of the site features all of the sections found on the Flash website.

Owney: Tales from the Rails iPad App and Site Launch

Before the holidays, Trigger worked with the Smithsonian Institute to create the Owney: Tales from the Rails iPad app and web-based site. This animated adventure eBook tells the life story of the dog named Owney, the official mascot of the Railway Mail Service. Owney traveled all over the world and collected tags for his collar from mail clerks from all around. The free eBook, which is nearly 70 pages long, features voice-over narration from Trace Adkins, music, and plenty of eye-catching animations to keep children engaged. Tales from the Rails is also supported by a curriculum guide created by the Smithsonian for teachers who wish to plan their lessons around Owney’s inspirational story.
